Itinerary

On arrival, meet your guide and driver and transfer to your hotel in the city center. Vientiane is a captivating capital, where you can see the influence of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, and American cultures. This charming and relaxed city will give you a smooth introduction to Laos.

After a short rest, start your tour of the main attractions of the capital. Visit Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple in Vientiane, which has thousands of miniature Buddha statues. See Wat Prakeo, the former royal temple, which used to house the famous Emerald Buddha. On the way to That Luang Stupa, the most sacred and revered monument in Laos, stop to take some pictures of Patuxay Monument, a majestic arch that resembles the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. From there, go to the Central Market, also called the ‘Morning Market’, where you can find antiques, handmade textiles and gifts. Continue with a walk around the Lao capital, where you can see some of the historical sites and the French colonial architecture. Watch the sunset by the Mekong Riverside and enjoy the city life of the local Lao people until late evening.

Spend the rest of the day touring the ancient Lao capital: visit the remarkable stupa of Wat Visoun and the temples of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. Continue to Wat Xieng Thong, a splendid temple that sits at the confluence of the Mekong and the Nam Khan Rivers. The temple is adorned with exquisite stuccoes, doorways and a stunning ‘tree of life’ mosaic on an outer wall. After that, ascend to the top of Mount Phousi to admire the sacred, golden stupa and the breathtaking sunset over the ancient city and the Mekong River. End the day with a walk around the Night Market, where you can find a variety of textiles made by the locals and the hill tribes living around Luang Prabang.

Overnight in Luang Prabang

After breakfast, take a boat trip along the Mekong River, enjoying the peaceful scenery and visiting the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, where thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues of different sizes and shapes are left by pilgrims. On the way, stop at Ban Xanghai, a village where the locals make rice wine. Return to Luang Prabang in the afternoon.

Reach the stunning Khouangsi Waterfall, where you can swim in the clear pools or hike along the forest trails. The waterfall is a paradise on earth. Visit also a Hmong village and the Bear Rescue Center before going back to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon. End the day with a sunset view at Wat Phabath.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source.
